Changeless vs. Prosperous

I was playing with my nephew a few days ago. He loves playing with forts and soldiers…in the midst of fighting and war I was thinking of yoga, and how I could get him to be interested in it…

Here is what we came up with, I hope you enjoy our of yoga :)

In yoga we have three very powerful 'weapons' or tools called 'Trishtana'. These three magic weapons are: drishti, asana, pranayama.
Dristhi is your gazing point, its like the guards guarding the entrance of the fort, aka your body.
Pranayama, is your breath, its like the soldiers that go into the fort, to unlock the gates for the treasure, or the Atma aka the shine, to be unleashed.
The asana, or the shape the body is placed in, is the fort within which the treasure (shine) is hidden.

The soldiers are on a mission to unleash the shine.  The work they do depends upon the guards (their concentration, fixed in one spot, aware and ready) and the agility of the soldiers (the victorious ujai breath). The stronger the structure of the fort (the body) the easier the work for the soldier to reach the treasure, because the fort will not collapse.

Through yoga we cultivate a strong yet supple body. Its a constant graceful search for balance between sthira and sukha...a search for equilibrium:

"The word, sthira, means more than just firm. It translates as stable, resolute, changeless. Sthira speaks not only of challenge, strength, endurance and fortitude but also vigilance, the ability to be pay attention, to be present. It is the opposite of agitation and refers to both physical and mental stillness: a controlled, fully engaged body and a focused mind.
Sukha translates as pleasurable, joyful, agreeable, easy, comfortable, happy, prosperous, relaxed. It is the opposite of discomfort, suffering or pain (duhkha). Here we bring in the principles non-violence and self acceptance. We nurture ourselves by doing something that feels good." by Deva Parnell

I invite you to sit on this and see where you are:
-FIRM, STABLE, CHANGELESS
versus
-AGREEABLE, EASY, COMFORTABLE, RELAX

In what areas of your life are you:
-STRONG, CHALLENGED, VIGILANT, ATTENT?
versus
-JOYFUL, PROSPEROUS, HAPPY, EASY GOING

Share it up :) Follow the conversation over to my FB page Bibi Lorenzetti or www.bibilorenzetti.com
See you soon!

Relinquish your attachment to it

"The Law of Detachment says that in order to acquire anything in the physical universe, you have to relinquish your attachment to it. This doesn’t mean that you give up the intention to create your desire. You don’t give up the intention, and you don’t give up the desire. You give up your attachment to the result.” ~ Deepak Chopra from The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

I see it like this:
You can try real hard to make things happen and create a lot of unhappiness in your life waiting for the results of these 'great' actions because your intention is unclear.
or
You can act from your heart and do the best you can in every situation you encounter without expecting anything back, apart from feeling good because you have a clear intention.

If you find yourself waiting for a response for a job, waiting for the man of your dreams to call you back after a date, waiting for your partner to appreciate all your do, and so on….ask yourself these two questions:

Would I rather feel fulfilled and happy because I have a clear intention behind my actions, therefore I am independent of the outcome?
or
would I rather feel anxiety because the intention behind my actions are unclear and therefore I rely on the outcome to value who I am?

Where are my actions coming from?
"Let’s maintain our passionate commitment to our ideals and goals and intentions and desires. "Brian Johnson

Just don’t be attached.
Stay present in every step of your journey, engage in your actions from the heart.
Don’t get all caught up in whether it will work out or not.
What do you need to do next?
Be consistent, have faith, and show up…the results will show up on your doorsteps.
Stay aware and receptive.

Its all a process

"Everything has a gestation period, a time period that must pass before things will come into form. If you plant a carrot seed, it takes about seven weeks for the sprout to make its above-dirt entrance. Bamboo, which can grow up to thirteen feet in as little as one week, takes up to seven years to break through the surface of the ground. But for seven long years it looks like absolutely nothing’s happening. Now that takes some commitment.” ~ James Arthur Ray from Harmonic Wealth

I don't know about you, but there are days where I need to be reminded of this gestation period. In Yoga we have a similar process. We do our asana practice, for a long time we practice, practice, practice. Day in and day out, no matter the mood we are in, the physical state we are in, we show up and do our best. This is like planting the seed. Eventually all the devotion and continuity we put in gives fruit. However we are not attached to the results (or the fruit) of the practice. When we are detached from the result we are able to enjoy the process (or the gestation period), and when the seed is ready to give fruit we will be open to receiving it.
Just like when a woman is pregnant, she knows it takes nine months for a baby to gestate, but she lives in the day by day, trying her best to cultivate a healthy lifestyle so when the time comes both she and the baby will be ready.
It takes commitment to bring our highest selves to the world. It requires a lot of devoted, patient, persistent work.
What seeds have you planted?
Are you impatient in wanting to receive the fruits of your work?
Can you be present in the process or 'gestation period' a little more?
What can you do to get back to loving the journey?

Tool number 3: Build your Mantra

Here is the third, and last tool to Unleashing your shine:

MANTRA
a mantra is a a tool to free the mind. Man means mind and TRA means Freeing.
Repeating a mantra creates a vibration of energy that surrounds you and creates an energetic field around you that protects you and places you at a higher level of vibration, meaning it makes you more available to be open and receptive to life. In this openess you take in energy, and you therefore shine.

I use mantra to remind myself where I want to be energetically. Where I want my mind to be so then I can work towards that. It serves an a tool for me to get motivated, and align my actions to that vibrancy.

Evoking the state you want to be in creates the opportunity for it to manifest.
Once I have worked hard to: eat a clean diet, have a calm mind, now I am ready to surround myself in shine.

ITS ABOUT PUTTING THINGS IN THE RIGHT PLACE :)

Now I'd like for you all to go back to your 3 moments of shine (first blog post) and summarize each one in one word.
These 3 words will serve as your matra. To each word you will related one action that will serve you as backbone to create that sensation evoked by the word.
These are power phrases

Here is how it works:
1. my first one was the bike...feeling of pureness...PURE
the action is: eating healthy clean foods
2. my second one was chanting outloud...feeling is of lightness...LIGHT
the action is: doing pranayama practices daily
3. my third one was sitting down...feeling is happiness...HAPPY
the action is: repeating my power phrase
Now in front of each word place IAM

These are you 3 power phrases that will act as triggers and reminders of the state of shine you want to live by and manifest.
Now you know that in order to manifest your shine you have to activly participate in creating a strong backbone of positive actions.

You now have 3 tools to use for your shine to manifest, I hope you choose to use them.

Turn on the love and dismiss your fear

"There are two categories of love. Love and fear. Love is who we are, love is the true thought, its the thought of the true self. Any time we deviate from that love it is like light to darkness. Darkness is not a thing, its the absence of a thing, and you get rid of darkness by turning on the light. Fear is to love what darkness is to light. you don't hit the darkness to get rid of it and you can't just hit the fear to get rid of it. But you turn on the light and the darkness is automatically gone.
You turn on the love and the fear is automatically gone…so in any moment I need help, what I really need is a correction in thought, a breakthrough…meaning a miracle...and a miracle is a shift in perception from fear to love."

Where am I not making myself fully available to the person in front of me? Where do I close up to life?
Where do I shrink? Where do I hide?

It's about giving up the lower thought for the higher thought. The weaker thought for the higher thought. The change on the outside will happen because of the breakthrough on the inside.

I encourage you to nourish your inside, take care of yourself from the inside out. Let me give you my example:
A few years back I could not look at myself in the mirror. When I did, all I heard was a very negative voice in my head that loved to take me down with very harsh judgement. Took a while for me to get really fed up with this voice, and decide to do something about it. If it wasn't because of that exterior cue I would have never moved inside where the breakthrough needed to happen in order for me to like the outside. The outside, or what I saw in the mirror, hasn't necessarily changed, what changed is how I relate to it.

Now I ask you to use an outside cue as a vehicle to travel inside.
"Behind every fear there is a miracle waiting"
What is your fear?
Are you willing to look it in the eye and discover what hides behind it?
What you have always dreamed of?

Turn on the love and dismiss your fear.

Tool number 2: Pick an activity

The second tool is...ACTIVITY
In yoga the liver is related to MANIPURA chakra which is at the solar plexus. Manipura and the liver are related to these emotions:
-anger
-jelousy
-fear
-will power
it is our digestive fire, its color as a matter of fact is yellow like the sun...aka...VITALITY!!!

Guess what?
Our vitality resides in the liver!
When we are off balance these emotions come up and they steal our shine!
-Diet helps us to stay balances
-positive activity like yoga or any activity that calms the mind creates balance

So what can we do?
I suggest you create a backbone of activities and rituals that will support you from within. It's not about not feeling these emotions and never eating non detox foods ever again..ITS ABOOUT asking yourself:

how can I optimize my choices in every given moment so they my actions support my shine
rather then harm it?
Write down 3 activities that help you calm the mind.
So I can choose to not let emotion poison me but rather move through me!

What will your activity be?
P.S...Peacock Pose or Mayurasana activates and purifies Manipura…in case you want to try it!

Tool number 1

So here is the First TOOL to Unleash your Shine.

1) DIET :
when I talk about detox I refer to cleansing the liver. As I mentioned the liver is the one organ of the body that assimilates and digests all the poisons and toxins that we take in. When the liver is overworked it cannot properly do its job, I mean can you properly function if you are overworked?

Let's take a look at what clogs the liver:
-pollution
-chemicals from our foods and drinks
-pesticides found in non-organic foods
-hormones found in animal foods
-excess fats
-processed foods
When the liver is overworked it cannot properly function causing:
-sickness in the form of imbalance in the body
-weight gain
-irritability
-anger
-lack of energy
..and more serious things.

The bottom line being when the liver is not properly cleansed and nourished It blocks the expression of our shine!
So what can we do?
We can use foods that benefit liver detox:
Foods that support a proper functioning of the liver and facilitate regular detox:

Green foods: kale, collards, broccoli, parsley, celery, spinach, jalapeno....
contain chlorophyll which aids elimination of toxins and purifies the blood
White Foods: garlic, ginger, scallions, leeks, fennel, cauliflower...
anti-inflammatory, boost immune system which make you strong and support the detox process.
Red Foods: beets, red peppers, cayenne pepper, strawberries, watermelon...
benefit the circulatory system which aids the elimination of toxins from the arteries
Orange foods: carrots, squashes, peaches, apricots, yams, ...
antioxidant, aid the anti aging process, and clarify the skin helping it to clear any toxin residue. Antioxidants are also a must for preventing cancer.

Spices you can use:
lemon, ginger, sesame oil, jalapeno, cayenne, tumeric, vinegar
Fats for detox:
avocado, tahini, olive oil, olives, ghee- all create heat, boosting he digestive fire, therefore stimulate
your digestion, supporting weight loss and detoxification
Protein for detox:
Mila : Omega 3's, whole food, complete protein, aids weight loss, balances your blood sugar, curbs
cravings
Eggs: high quality protein and all essential amino acids. Good fat
Miso: fermented soy promotes intestinal health, same protein as soy just non processed. Aids
elimination of toxins in the stomach.
Lentils, quinoa

Observe what colors you put on your plate…and share your colorful recipies…
stay tuned for tool two...

My shine…your shine?

What is Energy and what is Vitality.
By the dictionary:
-Energy is the strength and vitality required for sustained physical and mental activity.
A feeling of
possessing such strength and vitality. Available power.
-Vitality is the state of being strong and active. It's the power to live and grow

I like like to definite it as MySHINE
How you shine? and how can you use food to fuel your shine?

I'd like for you all to write down 3 moments where you can identify and feel this state of shine.
EXAMPLE:
I feel my shine when:
-Riding my bike at 6.30 am with the first sun rays as I to go to yoga
-Chanting to Hanuman out loud while I ride my bike
-sitting down behind my harmonium when I start class and smelling like jasmine

Why do these moments allow me to feel vitality?
ITS MOMENTS I CONNECT TO MY SHINE, MY VITALITY.

In order to feel this shine my body and mind need to be cleansed, in a state of openness and
receptivity,
When my body and mind are in this state there is nothing blocking the expression of my shine.
Over the next few days we will explore how our food choices affect our energy and how to use food to
cleanse and unobstruct our bodies so we can be open and receptive and therefore experience the shine.
Are you ready for this?

Ok here we go…

1)BEING CONNECTED

-if im not connected I feel small, and powerless and there are no words to share. I feel limited
It's clear that I need to create the opportunity to feel connected.
If I don;t create it my experience of these moments is altered and is not fueling my shine.
It's all about setting ourselves up to shine!

how?

2) THE 3 TOOLS
Creating a backbone of activities and rituals that will enable me to feel connected to that inner shine.
So how do I do this?

Here are my 3 tools for you to experiment with:
1) Diet: food choices we to make
2) Activity: choose one thing that will activate you
3) Mantra: use power phrases that speak to you

When I speak of Eating for energy, I mean I want my diet to keep my organs functioning properly.
My favorite organ is the liver, and I find it directly relates to energy.
The liver is the detox master!!!
 It's:
-our digestive fire,
-our emotional fire,
-it does all of the processing and cleaning

so these three tools help keep the liver clean.
When the liver is clean we can properly assimilate food and life and therefore have plenty of shine!

In the next couple of days we will be exploring each tool in detail and by the end of the week you will have all the tools and you'll be ready to shine!
..soooo stay tuned!

Unleash your Digestive superpowers

Did you know that Peacocks eat very poisonous cobras for lunch?
The poison does not affect them! Beautiful and light and grand looking as they are, they are able to assimilate and digest poison. Its incredible!

In yoga we have two poses devoted to the peacock, mayurasana and pincha mayurasana. When the yogi practices mayurasana his ability to digest poisonous things gets stronger. Poisonous things come from food, the environment, relationships, emotions... Sometimes no matter how clean and healthy your diet is There are situations that poison our soul and create a shield of negativity around our eyes, and we experience life through that negative shield. When we practice mayurasana we place our elbows at the sternum, we literally dig out elbows in our solar plexus, stimulating the digestive fire in our body. This digestive fire helps us to digest life as it comes and assimilate only the positive. It makes us unbeatable

The solar plexus is known as , manipura chakra, in the chakra system, which is related to the liver and to fire. The solar plexus and the liver hold a lot of strong emotions such as: anger, jealousy, laziness, will to live... It is our driving force, the energy that pushes us forward. This fiery energy that resides in manipura when in balance, is what helps us to digest these strong emotions that can swipe us off our feet if not attended to properly.
Have you ever felt choked by a rush of anger?
Have you ever experienced jealousy toward another?
These emotions poison our souls and create sickness over time.

Practices like mayurasana, or simply stimulating your manipura chackra help us to keep our fire burning in a way that serves us rather then poison us.

So what can we do to digest these poisons?
-Diet is a tool that can support your liver and its ability to digest and eliminate poison found  in food in the form of toxins.
-Stimulating your manipura achakra by placing your thumb in your solar plexus and rotating your thumb first to the right then to the left as you breath deeply.

Join me tomorrow @7pm on "eat to shine: eating for energy" a FREE webinar I am hosting to dive into how diet can uncover your vitality and keep the poisons out!
To register email me now! awakehealth@bibilorenzetti.com

Just like the peacock you might just find yourself so unbeatably alive you can eat poisonous snakes!

Wake up your peacock power ! Rock your inner fire!

Emotion is Energy in motion

"The unforgiving mind is full of fears and offers love no room to be itself, no room where it can spread its wings and soar above the turmoil of the world.the unforgiving mis is sad without hope of respite and release from pain. It suffers and abodes in misery , peering around the the dark, seeing not, yet certain of the danger lurking there." A course in miracles"

When you feel stuck in a dark place, step up for yourself and choose to make room for your wings of joy to spread!

Here is what to do:
-Stand up
-do 3 head rotations on each side
-jump up and down 15 secs
-Shake yourself out
-Smile for 10secs
-3deep breaths in through nose out through open mouth
-stick your tongue out and say aaaaa

shake your body!!!!!

You laughing yet? I am...
Own it!
Now observe Is there still room for that dark thought?
Keep on smiling, breathing, bouncing and then get depressed if you want!

When your energy is in circulation and in motion, when your body is upright and you are breathing deeply there is more space for positivity, smiles and good vibes!

Have fun, and keep an eye out for the video of me doing these silly things coming soon:)

Breathe and be inspired.

On rainy days like this I notice my inspiration falter. It's easy to feel inspired and energized when the sun is out, but when the clouds come out, the will power to be inspired and inspire others can sometimes fade away.

To be inspired is to "be aroused, animated, or imbued with the spirit to do something, by or as if by supernatural or divine influence". To inspire also means to inhale. Inhaling is an action we can all relate to, and have access to. Inhaling is part of our every day life. Some of us breathe more, some breathe less, some have a deep breath, some have a shallow breath, some breathe at a fast paste, some breathe at a slower paste...We all have our personal way of breathing, what's important is that we do breath. Pranayama is a big part of the practice of yoga. I have learned to breathe thanks to it, and now recognize its importance in relation to how inspired I feel on any given day.

Getting oxygen is easy when you remember to breathe. So here is my proposal to you: when you feel uninspired, take a moment to stop and BREATHE! I have found that when I take a few minutes in the morning to bring my awareness to my breath, and take at least 10 deep breaths, my day changes color. Sometimes I have to keep reminding myself, sometimes it just takes that initial 'breathfast' oxigen input to invite some inspiration into my day.

How you start your day is how you live your day. Could be morning pages, gratitude journal, a little meditation or yoga - anything that gives you a touch of inspiration....Just add your 10 deep breaths as you do this activity. I invite you to make room in your day to stop and take 10 deep breaths. You choose when and where to take them. If you like to take it a step further then follow this basic guideline:

-'Breathfast' : take 10 deep breaths as you look into the mirror in the morning
-'Breathlunch' : take 10 deep breaths as you go to the bathroom to wash your hands before lunch
-'Breathdine' : take 10 deep breaths as you wash your hands before dinner
-'Goodnight Breath' : lay on your back and take 10 deep breaths
**all these are taken in and out through the nose.
**I suggest looking in the mirror or closing the eyes as your take them.

"How can you bring more of INSPIRATION back into your life in small ways every day? "

Just like the wind feeds the fire, breath feeds your will to live an inspired life!

Liver detox

Our liver processes all the toxins that enter our bodies. If we keep our food intake clean, and use foods that aid the detoxifying action of the liver, we will lead a healthier, longer life!
Liver main functions:
-processes toxins, making sure what goes into our bodies is cleaned before it enters the digestive system
-purifies our bloods
-processes all the fats that go into our system
What clogs and overloads our liver, causing its malfunction?
-pollution
-chemicals from our foods and drinks
-pesticides found in non-organic foods
-hormones found in animal foods
-excess fats
-processed foods
When the liver is overworked it cannot properly function causing:
-sickness in the form of imbalance in the body
-weight gain
-irritability
-anger
-skin disorders
-allergies/food insensitivities
Too many toxins increase our risk for cancer and other toxin related diseases.

Foods that support a proper functioning of the liver and facilitate regular detox:
Green foods: contain chlorophyll which aids elimination of toxins and purifies the blood
White Foods: anti-inflammatory, boost immune system which make you strong and support the detox process.
Red Foods: benefit the circulatory system which aids the elimination of toxins from the arteries
Orange foods: antioxidant, aid the anti aging process, and clarify the skin helping it to clear any toxin residue. Antioxidants are also a must for preventing cancer.

Write yourself a happy ending

This past month has been a journey into tuning in with my intuition and there are a few things I would like to share with you.
Intuition is a very delicate place within us. The first thing I did was to identify where my intuitive voice was coming from and when it spoke to me. Tuning in and listening I found out that the voice came from right behind my belly, and it has a churning feeling when it speaks to me. My tendency for many years was to do the opposite that little sweet voice is tells me to do when it spoke to me…I would just chicken out!

A few months ago, inspired by my mentor, I decided I would use my courage and each time I heard my intuition speak, I would take pen in hand and see what it was saying to me.
Most of the times the struggle happens when doing things that take me out of my comfort zone. My intuition gets real exited about new things and leads me towards them, but then my sabotage mechanism kicks in and says "oh Bibi you really should't, what if…"
I found that writing down the conversation that goes on in my mind really helps me to clear out the clutter and identify what it is I really want to do. And once it's clear, it's hard for me to step back. I see the benefit, I see the next step happening, I put myself in the situation and I know I must do it.

A lot of good has come from listening: my dearest friendships, the activities I most love doing, my teachers, my tastes and how much I enjoy a meal all depend on how much I am able to tune in and listen to my intution. Despite the fact that for many years I did not trust it, and actually used to think it was trying to sabotage me in some way, I have discovered that when I am not brave enough to listen to it, things get ugly and I waste my time.

I am now proud to say I know that when I have to make a decision and my stomach churns, I must sit down and write what my fears are around following through with and allowing for this to happen. I accept that my intuition knows best, because my intention is pure, I trust that its in my best interest to listen rather then let my head run me around. I invite clarity and guidance, I LET GO!

I have not yet mastered the art of following my intuition; but by following some of these simple steps, I come closer and closer eat day to being the best version of myself. I feel happy and fulfilled when I am able to trust my intution. My tools that keep my intention clear: yoga, meditation and healthy eating, are my number one guidance. I make sure I stay true to them.  I am ready to be brave, and I know that I can always start over.

** WHAT WILL YOU DO?
------------------------------------------------------------
I encourage you to take some time this Spring to tune into your intuition. Find some time to sit with yourself and find out what are some activities that you can do to proof to yourself that you are trustworthy, that you can and know how to take good care of yourself. Then look a little closer and see if you can identify when your intuition speaks to you, and take a stance.

Choose to be brave and follow your intuition…what is it you really really want to do? What will it take for you to do it?
I find journaling about it, creates a safe space for me to express how I feel, therefore softening fear or lack of clarity…it makes it a little more accessible.
I look forward to hearing about the exiting things that will come out of this exercise. You are supported by me, by you, and by all that love you, including the universe! When you are true to yourself...really true to your deepest self, your intuition, only good things can happen!

And remember you can always start over!
With love,
Bibi :)

Task:
1) what do I need to know?
2) What do I need to accept?
3) What do I need to change?
Keep in mind
Take a moment to think about:
-the ways you have changed
-what needs a little more work
When you are answering the questions,
listen to the answer that comes up from deep within.
